Our Why

TipMeUp was born out of a personal frustration.

Ever since I was a little girl, I traveled with my parents, and I always loved giving tips. I would leave a few dollars in the airport shuttle jar, drop a tip into the hat of a living statue, or put something in the musician’s tip box at a restaurant.

For me, tipping was never just about money. It was a small gesture of gratitude, a way to say, “I appreciate what you do.”

But over the years, something changed.

We stopped carrying cash. Tip jars started disappearing. And suddenly, there were so many moments when I wanted to say thank you, but simply couldn’t.

I missed being able to show my appreciation. Not being able to tip left me with a real sense of frustration.

On my way back from my last trip, that frustration turned into an idea.

Together with my friend Laís, TipMeUp was born, a virtual tip jar that makes tipping simple, accessible, and possible anywhere, for anyone, even when you don’t have cash.

No cash. No complicated process. Just a simple way to say thank you.

Because we believe appreciation should never be limited by what’s in your wallet.
