We wrote this document in plain language. Section headings and summaries help you navigate; they do not limit the full terms below or your rights under applicable law.
Agreement and eligibility
These Terms are an agreement between you and TipMeUp ("TipMeUp"). By creating an account, accepting a team invitation, or using the service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
Professional and business account holders must have reached the age of majority where they live and be able to enter a binding agreement. A person under that age may only make a tip with permission from a parent or guardian and an authorized payment method. If you act for a business, you confirm that you may bind it.
What TipMeUp provides
TipMeUp lets professionals and business teams publish QR-linked pages that accept voluntary tips and feedback, use Stripe-connected payout accounts, and view transaction records. Tippers may pay without an account and may optionally create a tipper account after a tip. TipMeUp is a technology platform, not a bank, payment-card issuer, employer, payroll service, charity, or financial, tax, or legal adviser.
Account types and security
- Professional accounts operate an individual tip page and receive routed payouts through Stripe.
- Business accounts manage a workspace, team invitations, team profiles, feedback settings, and reporting.
- Tipper accounts are created only through the post-tip flow and track claimed tips.
- You must provide accurate information, protect your sign-in credentials, and promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access.
Public profiles and teams
Professional display names, taglines, photos, page addresses, and tip choices are public. Do not publish information you do not want publicly available. Business owners must have authority to provide a prospective member's name and email and must use invitations only for genuine team administration.
A business owner can view and manage team profiles and team performance and transaction information. Accepting an invitation creates a pending relationship; the company-specific profile and QR code become active only after the business owner approves it. A business owner may remove that relationship, but removal does not delete the professional's account, personal profile, other company relationships, or records that must be retained for accounting, security, disputes, or law.
Tips and feedback
A tip is voluntary and the payer chooses the amount before confirming payment. Businesses may permit a feedback-only submission with a zero-dollar amount. Feedback must reflect a genuine experience and must not be unlawful, threatening, discriminatory, deceptive, harassing, or contain another person's sensitive information.
A tip is not automatically a charitable donation, wage, gratuity for employment-law purposes, or tax-deductible payment. The legal treatment depends on the facts and applicable law. Account holders are responsible for their own employment, tax, and reporting obligations.
Fees and payouts
The payer is shown the amount they will pay before confirmation. Under the current model, a professional attached to a business receives 100% of the selected tip. For a standalone professional, TipMeUp retains 5% plus the equivalent of CAD $0.40. Stripe converts the fixed amount when the payment settles, and the exact fee and net payout are recorded on the transaction. In certain markets, TipMeUp covers a base card-processing fee. Any international-card or other applicable supplement is shown to the payer before payment is confirmed. We may vary this treatment by market, card type, payment method, or plan with clear notice before payment.
We may change fees prospectively with notice, but will not change the recorded economics of a completed transaction. Payout availability and timing depend on Stripe, account verification, reserves, disputes, and applicable law.
Stripe and payment methods
Payments and connected payout accounts are provided by Stripe. Professional account holders must complete Stripe's required identity, business, banking, and compliance checks and accept applicable Stripe terms. Payment methods such as cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay are offered only when available through Stripe for the device, browser, region, and account. TipMeUp does not receive or store full card credentials.
Subscriptions
If TipMeUp offers a paid subscription, its price, billing period, included features, renewal terms, and cancellation method will be shown before purchase. You may cancel future renewal through the available billing controls. Cancellation does not undo a period already supplied, subject to any non-waivable cancellation, refund, or consumer right that applies.
Errors, refunds, and disputes
If you believe a transaction was unauthorized, duplicated, or processed incorrectly, contact support@tipmeup.ca promptly and contact your payment provider when appropriate. Refund availability depends on the transaction status, recipient, payment-network rules, and applicable consumer law.
We may pause a payment, payout, or account while investigating suspected fraud, abuse, chargebacks, legal demands, or security incidents. Nothing in these Terms limits a mandatory right to dispute a charge or seek a remedy.
Your content
You retain ownership of names, photos, messages, feedback, and other content you provide. You grant TipMeUp a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, display, format, and transmit that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, improve, and support the service.
You confirm that you have the necessary rights and permissions for content you upload. We may remove content that violates these Terms, law, rights, safety, or service integrity.
Acceptable use
- Do not use TipMeUp for fraud, money laundering, illegal goods, or deceptive activity.
- Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent a business or service relationship.
- Do not probe, bypass, disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, or overload security controls.
- Do not use invitations, feedback, or messages for spam, harassment, or unlawful content.
- Do not attempt to manipulate payment, fee, referral, rating, or reporting records.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, including public profiles, feedback visibility, payment references, service providers, cross-border processing, retention, safeguards, and privacy rights. Business account holders must handle any personal information they receive through TipMeUp lawfully and only for legitimate team and service purposes.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using TipMeUp and request account closure. We may restrict or suspend an account when reasonably needed to protect users, comply with law or payment-network requirements, investigate suspected misuse, or address a material breach of these Terms. Where reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue.
Closure does not erase obligations or records that must be retained for completed payments, taxes, accounting, fraud prevention, disputes, privacy requests, or law.
TipMeUp property
TipMeUp and its software, interface, branding, documentation, and original content are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose; they do not transfer ownership of TipMeUp property.
Availability and changes
We work to keep TipMeUp available and accurate but do not promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, internet or provider outages, security events, and legal or payment-network changes may affect features. We may improve, replace, or discontinue features and will provide reasonable notice when a material change adversely affects an active paid service.
Warranties and liability
To the extent permitted by law, TipMeUp is provided "as is" and "as available" without implied warranties beyond those that cannot legally be excluded. We do not guarantee tip volume, income, tax treatment, payout timing, or the conduct of another user or provider.
To the extent permitted by law, TipMeUp is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or lost profits arising from use of the service. Any aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of CAD $100 and fees you paid directly to TipMeUp in the preceding 12 months. These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot be excluded for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or non-waivable consumer rights.
Applicable law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws that validly apply to the relationship and the mandatory consumer, payment, privacy, and other protections in the place where you live or use the service. Nothing in these Terms removes rights that cannot legally be waived, including rights that may apply in Brazil, Israel, or a United States state. Before formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue fairly.
Changes and contact
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version and effective date and provide prominent notice of a material change. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted; we will request renewed acceptance when required.
